We are seeking an Associate Scientist/ Scientist (exact title will be based on the incumbent's experience) to join our Analytical Development team.  The qualified individual should have experience with virology methods, cell based and enzymatic assays.  Prior experience and knowledge with virus titration, immunodiffusion techniques, enzyme-based assays, and cell-based assays are required.  Familiarity with other analytical techniques for biological analysis and characterization, including molecular methods for extraction and quantification of nucleic acids, including qPCR and PicoGreen, is a plus.  The ideal candidate will make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results.  The candidate will receive general instructions from a supervisor for routine work and new assignments.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, optimize, qualify, and validate virology, cell based and enzymatic assays, such as SRID and baculovirus titration assays, for Drug Substance and process intermediates and perform method transfer to other departments
  • Preparation and characterization of critical reagents and data trending
  • Write, review, edit, and follow standard operating procedures
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations. Provide selected sections for CMC regulatory filings
  • Maintain effective communication with process development, formulation, QC, discovery and clinical groups
  • Support instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Present sample testing data at internal meetings

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in biological science or related field. Minimum of 8 years' experience for Master degree and 0-2 years for Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutical, biologics, and/or related field.
  • A thorough understanding of Molecular and Cellular Biology assays
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or other statistical tools to critically analyze data
  • Excellent record keeping abilities to adequately record, analyze, and document analytical data generated in support of regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups.
  • Understanding of GMP requirements and other FDA regulatory requirements associated with analytical testing of vaccine products.
