We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager to join our Accounting department in Gaithersburg, MD and oversee the accounting for R&D manufacturing aspects of the Company's operations. This position will partner extensively with Financial Planning & Analysis, Supply Chain, and Global Program Management teams to ensure thorough understanding of various initiatives and timely completion of tasks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the monthly close and prepare schedules in accordance with internal and SEC reporting timetables
  • Collaborate with R&D departments and Program Managers to understand work performed under R&D contracts and develop appropriate monthly accruals
  • Create, post and analyze general ledger entries for R&D manufacturing expenses, accruals, fixed assets, consulting and subcontractor services, leases, prepaid and other areas
  • Coordinate with the Government Compliance and Revenue teams to provide timely and accurate information for billing and revenue purposes
  • Meet with external vendors, partners, and contract manufacturing organizations to obtain updates on project progress and information to record timely and accurate accruals
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations; identify and investigate discrepancies
  • Assist in budget and forecasting processes as needed
  • Investigate quantitative and qualitative variance analyses
  • Participate in the preparation of disclosures for SEC filings
  • Support external auditor, SOX, and other consultant requests as needed
  • Ability to prioritize assignment and meet the monthly close deadline.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience related to accounting
  • Biotech, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical experience a strong plus
  • Proficiency with large-size accounting software. SAP accounting system experience a plus
  • CPA required
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel
